Veneers are wafer-thin shells made using medical-grade porcelain or composite. These are bonded to the front side of the teeth to give them a better appearance and to address flaws such as chips, cracks and stains. The office of Glenwood Dental Care offers custom-crafted porcelain and composite veneers that match with your natural teeth color. We also offer the ultra-thin Lumineers brand.
Veneers are a treatment of choice as they offer a host of cosmetic benefits. They can mask flaws such as cracks and chips and conceal dark tetracycline stains which cannot be treated using traditional whitening procedures. They can also be used to change the shape of teeth that are pointed, small, worn, or irregularly shaped.
The process of placing veneers on the teeth begins with preparing the tooth by removing a small part of the enamel. This is done to accommodate for the thickness of the veneer. Once the tooth has been prepared, an impression is taken, and the shade of the veneer is determined. This information is sent to a dental laboratory where your custom veneer restoration is fabricated. Until then, a temporary restoration is placed over your prepared tooth. Once your permanent veneer is ready, we invite you for a second visit. During this appointment, the temporary restoration is removed, and the permanent one is placed on the tooth. We then check your bite and see if the veneer fits well and matches your natural tooth color. After this, the veneer is permanently applied to the tooth using a dental bonding agent. That’s it! Your new and beautiful smile is now ready.
